About Hubert, « The worker » and the 6 last days of the crowdfunding!

«The Worker “refers to the economic suffering and insecurity associated with immigration. Thus, the piece is fragile. It consists of a lamp and a working surface traditionally for handwork. The lamp is marked by a dramatic gesture and continuous embroidery covers the entire electric circuit, from the bulb to the socket.

It is also a result of an encounter with contemporary cabinetmaker Hubert Kerléo, who recently went on a walk near his studio, in the woods, to search for broken branches of wood and test them as legs….

In parallel Jennyfer and Philippe advance together on the innovative aspect that is the use of embroidery in the manufacture of a lamp; integrating by that structure, esthetics and function. We are now in finishing.

The story of «Tea break» and the “Tree of hope”

The “Tea break “ offers a moment of pause in the life of an immigrant and a time to recall his memories. This object uses cultural mix and questions the boundaries between local and global, and between functionality and ‘ art for art ‘.

It is designed in honor of a universal tradition, with a stool and turntable. It is made of a perforated metal gallery, embroidery on the seat, new wooden frame and carved legs.

The Tree of hope,

Details are very refined; an echo of the gallery is drawn on the seat. “The tree of hope» a 3 dimensional embroidery seeks to break the limit of the flat embroidery on the seat creates an original embroidered sculpture. For that Jennyfer used a technic used in fashion and by reducing the pearls and spangles she reduces the volume of the embroidery, the result is a unique embroidered sculpture, a technical premier and a movement of hope.

A late night reflection : What is Crowd funding? Why contributing?

What is Crowd funding? Social media websites that allow people to donate small amounts of money that adds up to fund valuable larger projects. In our case, believe with us in our project and values and help us achieve 3500€ by the end of the next 22 days. It’s all or nothing, and YES, we can do it with your help!

Why helping?
The primary motivations for donating are
Sympathy: contributing to friends and family, friends of friends, a community.
Empathy: helping others achieve their goals, contribute to the common good and social change and participating in a story while in process.
Identity: supporting likeminded people and be a part of a community that supports similar values, interests, ideas or cause.
Happiness: simply because you find contributing fun, or you like contribute to crowd funding.
Interest: Getting a reward or a share in the project
“Social revolution”: Be a part of an alternative way to fund cultural productions which is in a way a “social revolution” and an alternative to more traditional institutional forms of cultural funding; to my opinion a more democratic, sharing, responsible way of living.

Sur Philip, Christine et la pièce « Identité interrogative »

Un objet protéiforme d’art, un objet de rangement et un miroir d’anamorphose. L’animal chimérique qui l’habite et le miroir créent une « Identité interrogative ». Celle-ci représente la difficulté à rester soi-même tout en s’adaptant aux contraintes de l’extérieur.

Cette pièce vers la fin de sa réalisation est un nouveau challenge. Je voulais créer un animal chimérique qui puisse à la fois convaincre de son existence par la vérité de ses proportions et par son « réalisme inventé », pas évident.  Le cadre napoléon III de proportion adapté à la tête est restauré, argenté et transformé en miroir d’anamorphose. Le reste de la pièce (le relief, les détails) est construit. Arriver à harmoniser ces 2 images fortes et différentes, en créant un langage visuel cohérent a été un challenge.

C’est ainsi que s’est faite la rencontre avec Philippe Moreau, le tapissier. Philip, militant de métier, de talent remarquable, déjà renommé a remporté de nombreuses médailles. Grâce à cette pièce, Philippe dit qu’il a pu mettre en pratique des théories techniques apprises au court de sa carrière, et pas des moindres.

La création du masque a été particulièrement ardu… Nous avons travaillé à trois avec Jennyfer la brodeuse. D’abord l’encollage d’un tissu… puis créer le premier masque du

Rinho en toile à carreaux… travailler les positions des tissus en fonction de ma composition…afin de laisser intervenir Jenyffer la brodeuse plus tard…

Pour améliorer le réalisme de cette tête nous avons étudié de nouveau la structure des cornes avec Christine Bruckner, une céramiste extraordinaire en cherchant un meilleur équilibre de poids, d’aspect et de texture… à suivre.

L’histoire de la création broderie et de Jennyfer, la brodeuse.

Peu après la rencontre avec Romain l’ébéniste restaurateur,  je rencontre Jennyfer Moret. Jennyfer, une jeune brodeuse dans la haute couture, devient rapidement aussi une personne clé. Créatrice elle-même, c’est l’occasion pour elle d’adapter son savoir-faire et son expérience de la Haute Couture à un tout autre domaine.

Jennyfer développe un savoir-faire unique en abordant le concept de la broderie comme un objet tridimensionnel, sculpté sans support. C‘est le cas de l’arbre de l’espoir sur «l’immigrée » ou l’œil dans « l’identité interrogatoire ». Notre collaboration se fait naturellement de façon très ouverte, et pleine d’imagination, parfois à trois avec Romain et plus tard avec Philip.

La création broderie dans notre projet est le résultat d’allers et retours entre la récupération des broderies traditionnelles au Moyen Orient, entre mes concept et compositions et la création de Jennyfer, qui harmonise l’ensemble et ajoute son empreinte. Dans le résultat les morceaux de la broderie palestinienne et juive Israélienne sont harmonisés malgré leurs différences.

Dans notre démarche nous incarnons de façon pratique un grand nombre de réflexions très actuelles. Nous adoptons une méthode coopérative et horizontale de la production et la création. Nous tenons à faire évoluer cet aspect du projet. Nous expérimentons « l’économie circulaire » par une approche qui repose sur le « up cycling ».

Nous rendons vivante ces très grandes réflexions de notre temps !
